One of the most recognizable traits of Jesus was his habit of quoting Old Testament scripture. He did this with remarkable frequency, particularly when teaching.
This trait illustrates the value and importance of truly knowing the Word to the extent that its relevance invades all aspects of life and human interactions.
Jesus famously called on scripture to answer and rebuke Satan when the latter tempted him in the wilderness.
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[a]”
