Title: He Knows Us
Date:
He Knows Us
This month in Children’s Ministry, we are looking into scriptures that focus on how Jesus truly knows us. In the Sermon on the Mount, he is very clear that he knows that we will be anxious and we will worry, but when we do feel anxious and worried, we can be comforted by remembering how much God loves us and provides for us. He also knows our fears and our past…and guess what? He still loves us. He wants us to change sinful behavior, but he loves us.
When the woman pours out expensive perfume on the feet of Jesus, everyone in the room is mortified that Jesus would allow this type of woman to be near Him, let alone touch Him. Jesus sees her and knows her already. Jesus also gives Peter the power to walk on water and he only sinks when his fear takes over. The experience becomes a learning opportunity for Peter’s faith to grow.
It is evident throughout the Gospels that Jesus understood everything about us and knows us very well, but here is the thing: He wants us to be in relationship with him and he wants us to know him well too. The best way to get to know him is through reading our Bibles, spending time with him in prayer, and serving one another. It is also our role as parents to actively disciple our children.
Monthly Challenge
In addition to the weekly devotionals that we send home with families, I have a challenge for all the parents. Take time this month to tell your children how you came to become a Christ follower.
Who was influential in your spiritual journey?
How did you reconcile with the grace and mercy you have been given?
How do you continue to grow in faith?
